Thoroughbred Information
  I know my horse's registered name, how do I find its history (pedigree, race record, produce record, etc.)?
 

For a free 5-cross pedigree and to order reports such as race records and progeny records, visit equineline.com, the online Thoroughbred information service of our subsidiary, The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. (TJCIS). For free entries, results, charts and other information, use the Horse Search feature at equibase.com, the Thoroughbred industry’s official database for racing information.

  I have my horse's tattoo number, how do I find more information about it?
 

You can use The Jockey Club's free Tattoo Identification Services available through the Registry homepage at registry.jockeyclub.com.

  Who is my horse's breeder?
 

If you know your horse's registered name or dam and year of birth, you can find its breeder using the free 5-cross pedigree feature at equineline.com.

  How do I find the previous owner of my horse?
 

The Jockey Club does not maintain an ownership database, and The Jockey Club does not disclose ownership information, except under certain circumstances (click here). If your horse raced, you can find the owner/trainer at the time of the horse’s last race using the Horse Search feature at equibase.com and looking at the most recent chart or by ordering race records at equineline.com. You can view sample reports before you order, and sign up is free.

  How do I find a horse I used to own?
 

The Jockey Club does not maintain an ownership database, and The Jockey Club does not disclose ownership information, except under certain circumstances (click here). If your horse raced, you can find the owner/trainer at the time of the horse’s last race using the Horse Search feature at equibase.com and looking at the most recent chart or by ordering race records at equineline.com. You can view sample reports before you order, and sign up is free.

  Where can I obtain winner/race photos of my horse?
 

To locate your horse's race photos, contact the racetracks at which it raced, and they can direct you to the track photographer. Racetrack links: www.equibase.com/tracks/trackinfo.cfm

If you do not know at which track(s) the horse raced, you can view its charts using the Horse Search feature at equibase.com.

Registry Services
Many questions can be answered by visiting the Registry website. In addition, owners and breeders can use Interactive Registration to perform virtually all registration-related activities online. Sign up through the Registry homepage at registry.jockeyclub.com.

  How do I register my horse online?
 

To register your horse online, go to registry.jockeyclub.com and sign up for Interactive Registration. If you have questions, contact the Registry at (800) 444-8521.

  Can I name my horse online?
 

Yes. Go to registry.jockeyclub.com and sign up for Interactive Registration. After you log on, click Naming. If you have questions, contact the Registry at (800) 444-8521.

  How do I get new/duplicate papers for my horse?

  How do I transfer ownership of my horse into my name?
 

Here is a link to the requirements to transfer ownership: www.jockeyclub.com/registry.asp?section=3#seven. You can transfer ownership through Interactive Registration. Go to registry.jockeyclub.com and sign up for Interactive Registration. After you log on, click Transfer Ownership. If you have questions, contact the Registry at (800) 444-8521.

  Is the Rule Book available online?
 

Yes. You can always find the latest version of the Principal Rules and Requirements of The American Stud Book online at www.jockeyclub.com/registry.asp?section=3

When The Jockey Club was named, the word jockey referred to anyone having to do with horses. Despite its name, The Jockey Club is not an organization for jockeys, but it is the breed registry for Thoroughbreds in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. To find out more information on becoming a jockey, visit the Jockeys' Guild at www.jockeysguild.com.

  How do I contact a jockey?
 

When The Jockey Club was named, the word jockey referred to anyone having to do with horses. Trainer Information

  How do I become a horse trainer?
 

For information on becoming a trainer, contact the National Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association.

  How do I find a trainer?
 

The Jockey Club does not keep a list of or recommend trainers. For more information on finding a trainer, visit the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, The Racing Game or The Blood-Horse Source.

Membership

  How do I become a member of The Jockey Club?
 

Membership in The Jockey Club is by invitation and includes approximately 100 individuals distinguished by their contributions to Thoroughbred breeding and racing. However, you do not need to be a member of The Jockey Club to own, breed, race, sell or otherwise participate in the Thoroughbred industry.

  How do I become a steward or racing official?
 

To become a racing steward/official, you must be accredited. For more information, visit the Racing Officials Accreditation Program website at www.horseracingofficials.com.
The University of Louisville and the University of Arizona have accreditation schools.

  How do I become a Thoroughbred owner?

  Where can I find information on the Thoroughbred breed?
